He probably got rejected asking out a Latina in HS
It’s a little too dated for me. I can’t go back after playing nethack. It’s like how I can’t play wolfenstein but I play doom all the time.
Still a thriving market here. Some people might have to travel a bit though.
I believe that was in relation to phones–they said they never had to use T9 mode on phones that had only numbers, and went straight to qwerty phones.
Oh boy, sound blaster. As much of a pain getting everything to work back in the day was, I’m also nostalgic for it.
I am too. I ran across a yt vid the other day talking about how in the DOS games era apparently there was something called the MT-32, which cost around the equivalent of $2000 USD, but the sound was amazing. Instead of the tinnier output of sound blaster, some DOS games actually had full music tracks in their games.
Still though, think of how much less memorable that sound would be if we didn’t have it.
He goes through and compares PC speaker, Sound Blaster, and MT-32 for a bunch of games like King’s Quest IV, Monkey Island, Space Quest 3, one of the Leisure Suit Larrys, and even an Indy Jones game.
I just don’t see possibly keeping kids away from internet porn is a worthy trade off in providing even more of our information to companies.
To quote Steve Hofstadder, I’m not a helicopter pilot either but if I see one in a tree I know someone fucked up.
It’s effective but it’s not right. The answer is 2 (or more) spaces before the line break. A comment recommending 3 or 13 or 1000 spaces before the break will get the job done but it’s not the “actual answer”.
Exactly. So why should we require ID for porn and not for a bad word?
Why stop at porn? Any objectionable words (like darn or poop), or any form of non-consensual contact (including Three Stooges pies in the face) must require photo ID to access. The internet is for everyone, after all.
I used to go to Wikipedia and click the random article button to get a name for my burned mix CDs. I think my favorite was called “mountaintop removal”.
Firefox has a built in translator, and there are add-ons you can install if you want a different version. Won’t work on image posts though
IIRC the actors in Matrix did ~6 months of kung fu training, and Keanu did a ton of shooting training for John wick. Of course all the movie stuff is choreographed but it doesn’t mean there’s nothing behind it in all cases.
I’ve played a bit but haven’t had enough time to really get into it. Did you see Romero playing it when it first blew up?

I just checked for the vid I saw and looks like he’s got another one playing it from a couple months ago as well.
I got back into doom in the last few years and there’s a huge number of amazing maps people have made over the years you can play for free. I had no idea about the total conversion wads, where it doesn’t even feel like doom because everything has been changed.
If anyone’s looking for a good place to start you can check out the yearly cacoward winners
But what if I like counting by making hash marks on a stick?
Probably also lose on the technicality of bringing in the CLAUW
This one dad wrote an article about introducing his kid to retro gaming, starting with the old Atari console and progressing through newer generations every few months.
