The best take on here. The reasonable one that still highlights how much better it is compared to other mainstream services
Cheers for the tool mate
Never even heard of it, I’ll have to give it a go 👍🏼
100% this. I found it very disappointing that in order to achieve their arbitrary security policy that they sacrificed SMS fallback
I have no idea why it wasn’t just an option on setup or a configuration setting so that it defaults to encrypted messaging by default and then falls back to SMS for numbers that don’t support it (if enabled)
From their statement back in the days it always felt like they could have found a way to make this work but simply didn’t want to
Heaps of stuff that’s positioned as the “alternative of X” feels like garbo. For example when I’m forced to use Pinta editor / GIMP over Photoshop when I’m using Linux. I get the expectation can’t be to have feature parity but some of these alternatives feel really poor
Love to see it. Really keen to see the type of new handhelds we’re going to get in the future and how that’ll impact market share
Amazing, the balls of these people
I’m pretty keen on tech so I’ve been going through the magazines on kbin, the community on Lemmy and the other random “places” to find subscriptions.
I don’t mind subscribing to multiple things so long as eventually everyone can see it and comment / engage.
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Great that Linux is getting more representation overall though. Wonder how anti-cheat implementations work nowadays, I remember them not being supported on Linux before, so games didn’t run.
Tell her “I’m not interested in hearing your opinion or your attitude” next time she wants to be a rude bitch. At some point you need to have a spine and stand up to these people. These people aren’t managers and you don’t owe them explanations / justifications
It looks like they have their own “vibe” and rigorously enforce it in their own community. That’s fine, it’s their service after all. Feels a bit strange to turn away potential new users when people are looking for viable alternatives
Was really keen on tildes for a moment when we were going through the exodus stage with Reddit. I wasn’t keen on the closed invite system.
I get they want to keep their own community and that’s fine, but it’s a shame they wanted to limit their growth in a time when people were looking for alternatives
Anything we can do to have competition in the market is a good thing.
Was pretty supprised to find out that you now need to log in to an account to even do a basic TeamViewer session. It legit feels like every time I’m forced to used it to help out old people the UI is getting more bloated
A race to the bottom with who can come up with the next dogshit idea on how to ruin the internet and make things actively worse for the people who use it
When I started using Matrix I definitely thought “wtf is this”, but after 5 minutes and when I got invited to channels it all makes sense. Much prefer the privacy focused matrix
Matrix is a great discord-like experience. From my experience it’s got different channels, direct messing and a focus it seems on privacy which is nice. Compared to discord that doesn’t even support end to end encryption
Great work mate ♥️
