If its a smart display of analog it could be the hand positions have preprogrammed locations and not that is an accurate and smooth transition between the actual progression.

Growing up with only Analog, it just was a quick glance. You didn’t even have to stop and read it, because you glance and have a mental image of the hand positions that you could compare in your head.

Does your watch have clearly marked minutes and a second hand? If its not quite at the minute mark you know its before 9:23, but if its so close you can’t tell then the seconds hand will show you if its before or after the 60seconds spot.

But also, that’s how Analog is, and unless you have a very precise watch, a regular watch will gain or lose time daily and so the preciseness of 9:23 will be invalid anyway.

Each Distro is effectively a different OS, so depending on what you run you will have a different experience.

I started out on OpenSUSE because a CAD software for work only was supported on RedHat or SUSE. NVidia hosts a repo specifically for OpenSUSE so I added that and it figured out the driver. So all those nVidia complaints I read about just never happened for me. No tearing or flickering.

My wife’s old laptop couldn’t run W10 so we put Linux on it. Every Debian based distro I tried would crash on install, or hardware error during boot. But Fedora or OpenSUSE worked fine (warned of error but worked around it). Eventually moved her machine to NixOS, and its been stable for years.

Just because a distro gives you pain, dont give up if you still enjoy the idea of Linux, there are so many distros that one will work better for your needs

No there are solutions. For myself I had to install a few packages Vulkan I think, and then add something via WINE installer. You will find help here and on the web. You basically add the missing components so the Wrong Code works on Linux. Forcing a particular version of Proton comoatibilty ia often the fix. Its not a Linux thing, its a cross compatibility configuration thing.
If you install Windows on the deck you might find it runs worse.

There’s FreeDos too, you just throw the exe on there and boot to it and run the exe via the dos prompt. I know Linux should let you too.

Is not really relevant any more. OpenSUSE has been rock solid for 8 years. NixOS, just fill in config and it all just works

Disconnecting is good advice. What worked for me after windowa scrubbed the EFI boot was installing Linux and assigning its own EFI partition, most distros probe foreign OS so your separate Linux partition gets a chainloader entry to the windows EFI boot. You set BIOS to use Linux boot, Windows gets a handoff if you choose it in the Grub Menu and doesn’t know about the other EFI partition. Kept my dual install save.

I typically use gparted live, or GNOME disk utily, so I don’t know the command names, I slide the sliders and hit OK 😀

You can resize partitions if disk is all full…depending on fs of course…but shrink, move, grow works.

Windows suspend is now hibernate, or something, or Poweroff with fastboot is hibernate. I forget. There was a time when their terms meant the thing it did, but they actually switched things around. If you need a full power off for hardware reasons its a restart, because power off doesn’t do a true power off any more. Something to that effect
