BadmanDan@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come nobody does anything about North Korea?1·1 month agoGreat clarification. Do you think lifting sanctions and creating Pro-NK surpluses would help? Would Kim even do that?
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come nobody does anything about North Korea?2·1 month agoThose pesky poors! Always getting in the way of some good imperialism 😤
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come nobody does anything about North Korea?1·1 month agoI never thought about it like that
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come nobody does anything about North Korea?56·1 month agoI don’t disagree, the US definitely are the bad guys today on the global stage. But just hearing and seeing the stories from North Korea breaks my heart. Has the NATO or any western country tried some sort of diplomatic deal with Kim for better living conditions for his people?
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•So if we're just good with careening into fascism 2.0 what does the future look like?1·2 months agolol, you think the Dems are more right wing TODAY than the freakin 70s!?!?
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•So if we're just good with careening into fascism 2.0 what does the future look like?1·2 months agoI understand that, and I agree. We do need Dems in Congress that will always push for progressive legislation and fight back against conservative nonsense. The issue is, there’s a vast amount of people in this country that want to do the opposite, and in most cases, we’re outnumbered in that regard. You have to VOTE, we have to WIN! Even a moderate Democrat can be pushed towards progressive reform. A conservative Republican will never.
Biden’s BBB was 2 votes away from becoming a reality, unfortunately, it failed. But 10 years prior to that in 2011, it might’ve been 6-9 votes away. WERE MAKING PROGRESS. But everytime republicans gain control, our progress is put on hold or reversed. We can’t allow them to keep winnning.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•So if we're just good with careening into fascism 2.0 what does the future look like?14·2 months agoLeftist being nice to the right is always a sight to see
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•So if we're just good with careening into fascism 2.0 what does the future look like?12·2 months agoYou guys are so delusional. You could replace every sitting Dem in congress right now with your hand picked candidates, and literally NOTHING would be different. How many times does this need to be said, YOU NEED 60 VOTES IN THE SENATE! Without 60 votes, you’re not getting transformative change. You can thank your red state voters for that.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Will Universal Healthcare ever get 60 votes in the Senate?2·2 months agoThat’s a lot of work when we could just get 60 senators to stop being pricks
Trump gonna Trump 🙃
The next president is absolutely f*****
A function economy 😂. Jk
But being realistic to your answer, it’s possible to be done, but everyone involved would have to be in on it, assuming you wanna get away with it. The US has extremely strict and aware water safety protocols. It would take just 1 whistleblower to takedown this operation.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•dear republicans, what's the point of alienating every single ally of the US?22·6 months agoI’m disagreeing. Even though Clinton was the last president to decrease the debt when he left office.
But as a liberal, I’m not worried about the National Debt if they’d just cut military spending, which is like saying you wanna kill a baby now, since 9/11.
We need forgiveness from China, not tariffs.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•dear republicans, what's the point of alienating every single ally of the US?2·6 months agoBill Clinton’s success was the beginning of the end of bipartisanship in Federal politics. He made the economy as strong as it had been since the 50s and was the last president to leave office with less national debt. He wouldn’t have been able to do so without Republicans voting for his policies.
GOP strategist saw this, and pretty much since have went out of their way to block any potential progress from a Democratic president to keep them closer to unpopularity.
Obama was the first Dem to be a victim of this. But that guy could negotiate his ass off and was able to bounce back from the 08 recession rather quickly and ended his term with a positive economy.
Biden was too damn old to fight back or compromise, and didn’t have nearly as many votes as Obama to ignore the GOP with his reconciliation bill.
If more people online actually knew about civics and the inner working of political strategies, they’d realize just how much progress the GOP has blocked within the last 30 years.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•dear republicans, what's the point of alienating every single ally of the US?2·6 months agoYeah social media has been a gift and curse. Not the internet as a whole. People having the ability to find more critical thinking political discussion online is great.
Only problem is, the right online is like FOX News on steroids.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•dear republicans, what's the point of alienating every single ally of the US?6·6 months agoThe southern strategy yeah. But post Reagan, the Republican Party had been trying to be more inclusive. Bush made it a point to have more diversity in his cabinet. Hell after the 2012 election, FOX News was even saying “Maybe America Dosent Care About Immigration, we need to pivot”.
We made so much social progress during the Obama years man. Then trump came in and brought out the worst in our country.
BadmanDan@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•dear republicans, what's the point of alienating every single ally of the US?6·6 months agoRepublicans literally add to the debt everytime they’re elected.
There’s really no economic interest for anyone other than South Korea in this situation
