I don’t know what country you’re in but in my country there are very specific regulations that outline how your water provider MUST give written or verbal notice. If you don’t have a phone number or email attached to your account there’s a chance that there’s a letter for you in in the mail and has not reached you yet. If not you might have a case with the ombudsman.

CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netto Linux@lemmy.ml•Do you guys just have flawless experiences or what?English2·8 days agoI get what you’re saying…if that were my experience I’d be jack of it too. I’ve got similar spec and am running Nobara which is pretty much Steam OS for people with Nvidia cards. The only thing. The only thing I got really into the weeds on was setting up Plex. Which wasn’t my first preference but I couldn’t work out how to get Jellyfin to cast to my old Chromecast. Other than that though I’ve had a great experience that ‘just works’.

CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How exactly are people lighting Teslas on fire?English16·5 months agothe deaths appear to be more the result of the vehicle fire, as opposed to drugs, or injuries the victims sustained in the crash. And troublingly, that testimony also showed the Cybertruck’s doors could not be opened in the aftermath of the crash, preventing Riordan from pulling the other three victims from the flaming wreckage.
I think it could be argued that wearing ostentatious and expensive clothes is a type of self-aggrandisement. Wear something flashy into any local pub in country NSW and you’d get the exact same reaction as above.
I’d say it’s a different set of values but maybe that’s just my cultural perspective.
Tall Poppy is more about egalitarianism and modesty, where standing out or flaunting status too much is discouraged.
Whereas crab bucket is seen as being rooted in envy, jealousy, or a fear of losing status or position.
We call this “cutting tall poppies” in Australia.
I’ve always appreciated this story as an explanation for anyone who finds the concept foreign.

By their very nature their sales market is pre-existing console owners."
Plus Yosuke Okunari also said “Sega had devoted much of its game development capabilities to the 32X (and much of its hardware stock, since the 32X used the same chip as the Saturn) during the 1994 year-end sales season.” Which ruined Sega’s capacity to support manufacturing and game development of the Saturn.

CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•A monolithic and ruthless conspiracy: What was John F. Kennedy referring to?English1·6 months agoI don’t find it odd. Even with Vatican II in 1962-65 transforming the role of the pope to a more ecumenical approach, the role is still one of a world leader. It’s similar to how those same politicians consult with the Dalai Lama. There’s realpolitik reasons for political world leaders to be seen consulting them as ‘world leaders’ that have nothing to do with the actual religions.
CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•A monolithic and ruthless conspiracy: What was John F. Kennedy referring to?English6·6 months agoNah man sorry. You’re just wrong in this case. You’re missing the forest for the trees.
Communism was the conspiracy. China. Vietnam. Laos. Cuba. Yemen. Somalia. Congo. Mozambique. Afghanistan. These were the countries succumbing to the worldwide conspiracy he was talking about.
Not to forget that Kennedy increased US involvement in Vietnam to prevent the spread of communism. He sent more troops and military advisers to South Vietnam to fight Ho Chi Minh’s forces. His brother also served under McCarthy as his father was a major ally and raging anti-communist.
Also regarding religion, Kennedy was a devout Catholic, which was a massive issue for him during the election, giving him good reason to try and dissuade people from considering it as an issue for him. Back then Catholics were often questioned on their loyalty, with people concerned that the president would be answerable to the pope. Crazy I know.
CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•A monolithic and ruthless conspiracy: What was John F. Kennedy referring to?English11·6 months agoYou’re not going to like this answer but he didn’t say Soviet Union because he didn’t need to. Everybody understood that ‘communism’ was ‘THE Global Conspiracy’ ever since McCarthyism took of.
Check out A conspiracy so immense : the world of Joe McCarthy by David Oshinsky to learn a little of what the attitude of the time was like.
Also sorry for the previously snippy response.

Oh weird that they wouldn’t have the same requirement for a boil water advisory. I know our regulatory body requires we use ‘reasonable endeavours’ to determine a customer’s preferred method of communication, and ‘meet the discrete communications needs of customers as required on a case-by-case basis.’
But again… Different country so who even knows what’s required in your state/district. How frustrating.
