IzzyScissor@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•US Congressmen praying inside the House of RepresentativesEnglish11·2 months agoThe most worrying thing is that I think they do believe (a form of) it. They believe their god is helping them maintain power, and is helping people.
They just don’t see us as ‘people’.
I remember that the vice principal of our Christian high school was annoyed with us saying ‘gosh darn’, and made the mistake of telling us, “If you’re going to say ‘gosh darn’, you might as well say ‘god damn’, because that’s what you really mean, and the Lort knows your heart.”
… We all just started flat-out saying ‘god damn’ like we were told.
Well, did you kill your parents when you came of age? You can be free from someone without killing them.

Full stop.
I’m sorry to say that you already know what you have to do. There’s no easy way to do it other than to just do it. If it makes the process easier, you don’t have to pose it as “it’s me or them” because you already know what his answer will be. If he was going to change, he’s had plenty of opportunities already.
Don’t wait for him anymore. Live YOUR life.
“We’re a family here” = “We will disregard any boundary you set up for your work/life balance because we are both your work and life now.”
IzzyScissor@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do some people in the USA assume all immigrants are illegal and should "go back to where they came from"? Shouldn't that logic apply to all non-Native Americans?31·7 months agoFirst, think about how smart the “average” person is.
Next, think about how half of the people in the world are dumber than that and you start to get an idea.
So, in the article, the tip amounts were 20%, 30%, 50%, and 100%. They also used capital letters correctly.
I’m not trying to say that a 100% tip isn’t crazy, but this photo seems suspicious without any branding, incorrect capitalization and a total of exactly $95.00. Hell, I can’t even be sure that this is an actual point of sale machine, it looks like it could just be a monitor.
This is clearly fake, right?

(OC)22·7 months agoI’m both glad you made it out and jealous I don’t have a similar history with another country to move to. You’re a great parent for everything you do for your daughter. Hope the last bit of the trip went smoothly and you find a job quickly.
IzzyScissor@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Boomers with their loud Samsung phone soundsEnglish4·7 months agoBack in my day, we let the entire ringtone play out because it was “Who let the dogs out”, and we paid 99 cents for it. There was no way we would admit that paying for a ringtone was a dumb idea, so we had to justify it any time we got a phone call.
(By we, I mean millennials, but I never did buy a ringtone. Never understood it, and have used vibrate since my first phone.)
But it also doesn’t mean Republicans are any better.
Who is the progressive wing of the Republican party again? Is it the Jewish space laser lady? The Beetlejuice jerker? The pedophile?
Sorry, that last one was too vague. That could apply to dozens of them.
First, I have two.
Second, why should anyone listen to you when you admit that any cat can outsmart you? Lol
Newsflash: birds aren’t cats either
If you’re going to be an ass about it, at least have SOME logical consistency.
How do the cats know which country they’re in?

Although, we have two ICE vehicles and want to swap to electric. I haven’t looked, but I can’t imagine there’s a great selection of electric, but ‘dumb’ in the US, considering GPS was mandatory for new vehicles in … 2016, I think?
I’ve also heard people say you can just pull the fuse for the GPS, but I’m still skeptical.
IzzyScissor@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Volkswagen has been collecting geolocation data from their smart cars, which were accidentally made public981·8 months agoI live in a small, rural community. The county sheriff’s department just announced how they bought the GPS tracking data for every vehicle in the county and how it’s going to “help calm traffic because they can predict where people are going to be speeding and can have an officer waiting”
The pre-crime department is starting and no one batted an eye.
IzzyScissor@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Not enough people buying Premium, eh?English11·8 months agoExact same story. It’s frustrating.
You’re right about the last bit, but slightly off on what it means.
He thinks he’s got everyone fooled. He’s a toddler with no emotional stability and so he has to surround himself with people who will play along. Because even when other people call him out… what happens next?
They just shrug and move on. Eventually that makes these billionaires think that they’re master manipulators, when really, everyone is just tired of dealing with their emotional outbursts and are only going along for the paycheck.
