PlexSheep@infosec.pubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is Mexican food uniquely good with alcohol or have I just been conditioned?4·25 days agoIn Bad Kreuznach in RLP? I know that city, it’s pretty empty most of the time. Just to be clear, Döner is a specific category of food, and you will likely find a lot of Dönerläden in Germany.
PlexSheep@infosec.pubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are password managers secure to use?3·29 days agoI mean… Can’t happen if you keep your stuff encrypted like with KeePassXC. Even if someone gets my password database, it’s useless for them since they don’t know how to decrypt it. That’s why I don’t use some online service, though using one of the online services is certainly better than reusing a weak remembered password.

What we need is the year of the Linux phone. And it think that we will have to still wait a long time for it. And no, Google/Linux does not count.
PlexSheep@infosec.pubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are password managers secure to use?2·29 days agoThis is just a hack. If you use encryption to store passwords, that becomes just a nuisance.

(I don’t think this is on fdroid though?)
It even works in just a web browser!

The free operating system Debian is based on the Linux kernel and various other softwares, while Arch is an architectural concept through which people and goods can be brought into or out of a building.
PlexSheep@infosec.pubto Linux@programming.dev•Ubuntu Joins the Movement: X11 Officially Being Phased Out10·2 months agoX11 is the display server. Your desktop environment, like gnome, has a window manager managing your opened applications and tells the display server “please render this stuff on the actual screen”.
X11 is ancient and sucks, because for example, it can’t do fractional scaling well, which is important for screens that have a higher resolution, since everything appears tiny otherwise.
The display server also offers some functionalities that the desktop environment can make use of, like global hotkeys, or screen sharing.
I’m not an expert or anything, but I think it’s about right like this.
