Did you really get a FP4 or did you mean 6?

Redex@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•Poll: Which abandoned Android phone features do you miss the most?English1·18 days agoOk, I mean if that’s MTP then sure, I thought it was something else, but I don’t see the problem, I’ve literally never had issues with reading or writing files using it over multiple devices and I have access to everything I’d have with a file browser app on my phone.
Edit: Reading this article, I don’t see why you would ever want to go back, it sounds like it has way more issues than the current solution.

Redex@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux has over 6% of the desktop market? Yes, you read that right - here's how45·1 month agoThat’s why we need to switch to TempleOS
Redex@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•According to Pornhub data (yes seriously!) Linux market share in 2024 increased more than 40% relative to 5.1% of all users.1·2 months agoI’m very confused about the significant drop in Apple users as well, but I’m not sure that it’s purely caused by a userbase increase. E.g. in mobile, for or this big of a change to occur you would need the userbase to increase by 38% and for none of those new users to be iPhone users. I don’t feel like that’s a realistic YoY increase in users at this late stage.
Redex@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•According to Pornhub data (yes seriously!) Linux market share in 2024 increased more than 40% relative to 5.1% of all users.272·2 months agoI am very suspicious of the -26% Apple marketshare. It makes me feel like there’s more to this than it seems at first. There’s no way 26% of Apple users stopped using Apple devices within a year.
Edit: maybe it could be caused by a large user base increase that shifted the demographics, but this fast? And the PornHub bans across US states started only this year for the most part if I’m not mistaken, so it shouldn’t affect this data?
I personally picked Mailfence, but I saw both runbox and mailfence are really good. Tho Mailfence is a bit more expensive
I love this new arc of pewds, unimaginably based. I’m actually interested in watching his videos now after a looong time. The last three tech related ones were great.
Gotta also recommended porkbun for a registrar, had a great experience with then.

The engineers have already began laying out the ground work for such support.
This really makes it sound like he’s pretending to know what he’s talking about when he doesn’t.
Redex@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Vitomir Maričič broke the world record for longest breath holding today... 29:032·2 months agoI mean, for spear fishing or doing literally anything under water it’s very helpful. I have a friend who regularly spear fishes and it’s very important that he can spend a long time at the ocean floor without moving so he can catch fish off guard.
Redex@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Vitomir Maričič broke the world record for longest breath holding today... 29:036·2 months agoHere’s the translated Croatian article:
An incredible Guinness World Record was set in Opatija – Vitomir Maričić held his breath for an astonishing 29 minutes and 3 seconds, leaving both the audience and experts amazed. This is one of the most demanding records, lying at the intersection of sports, medicine, and science.
The record dive was performed after several minutes of preparation and breathing pure oxygen. The entire attempt was monitored by five judges and an official team to ensure the result was valid according to Guinness rules.
“Today it was really hard for me to dive; yesterday it was easier, but after the 20th minute, everything became easier – at least mentally,” said Maričić.
The feat is part of the Fit for the Ocean campaign, which raises funds for the organization Sea Shepherd, known for its fight against illegal fishing. Maričić used the opportunity to highlight the importance of ocean conservation and the need for informed action from all of us.
Didn’t know those supported Android Auto
I mean, if your car is that old I’m guessing it probably doesn’t have Android Auto anyways. There’s probably a pretty small overlap between those that have it and those that don’t sell data.
Redex@lemmy.worldto Game Development@programming.dev•Unreal Engine to move to using Y-up1·3 months agoYeah you’d draw it on a vertical whiteboard, but in physics and math (or at least all the classes I had), you’d always draw a coordinate system with Z going up. I can understand why it would make sense for you to look at XY being a vertical plane, but I feel like it just makes more sense for XY to be the ground.
Also, convenience wise, especially in e.g. game dev, for 90% of use cases it’s way more convenient for the first two coordinates to be the ground position and the last coordinate be the height. Whenever you’re thinking of the coordinates of something, you’d probably first think about its ground position and then its height, in which case it’s much simpler if those ground coords are at the start, instead of at the beginning and end of a vector.
Redex@lemmy.worldto Game Development@programming.dev•Unreal Engine to move to using Y-up2·3 months agoHis point is that’s where it comes from. In most 3D software as seen in the chart, the XY plane is paralel to the screen, just that Y is up instead of down like in 2D, cut that would be insane if it was like that.
I’m thinking of trying them, but hard for me to find a usecase. I have two monitors and it’s often useful for me to have different combos of apps open at the sane time, so not sure how to properly use it.
