Most of us don’t ever make enough money to travel this country’s hard-to-imagine-how-big-it-actually-is vastness, or even enough to leave our hometowns for longer than a couple days before financial woes start nipping at the mind, if not worse.

I’d totally get that for polling people outside of North America. It’s just shocking to see it from people who have probably been to NYC or at least another major metro area – which would instantly falsify a 30% number for NYC.

This can be true for some, but for a lot of labbers the increased energy cost of enterprise hardware will exceed the cost difference of the NUC over the expected life of the equipment. That doesn’t mean it’s an obvious choice to go the other way; it’s just something you should consider.

It’s just not competitive with the quality of support on Windows. It’s bad enough, comparatively, that if you’re a heavy VR user it’s worth keeping a Windows install just for that use. There was a long post on /r/linuxgaming a few weeks back rolling up all the issues into one post, I’ll try to find it. One of the best comments in the post was by a top-ranked Beatsaber player actually; he said that latency among other things was the reason he has kept dual booting – only using Windows for VR gaming. I know that I just gave up on playing Elite: Dangerous in VR successfully because I didn’t want to fuss with dual booting.

I get the sentiment, but I’ll stick to my guns on this one (as I have for two decades). I honestly believe that Blue Shift might be the best game Valve has ever made.

If you haven’t played them, Blue Shift and Opposing Force are amazing as well (better than HL itself, IMHO).

Everything that is professionally rendered is offloaded to purpose built hardware. This part of the workflow would not be any different no matter what the creative is using for their workstation.

Specifically on the N64, with regards to these games? I absolutely do and I don’t think there’s actually much to discuss.
