Such a small share of ad-revenue goes to creators it’s not worth it. You lose in wasting time, getting your brain turned to mush and getting manipulated by the ads. It costs less to support the creators directly.

I just wish there were easier ways to do so. Something decentralised with all the creators where I could fix an amount per month to spend on content creation and getting it split between what I appreciated.

Where are you based? You might decide whether you think torrent without VPN is too risky based on the local law. I’m in a country where there is a three strikes system, with two notices before risking a fine, I’ve used torrents for circa 20 years without VPN and I’m still waiting to receive my first notice.

Mentioning since you say you don’t like ugly, I use Pano (on Gnome 49/Fedora 43) and have no issues with Kate (current version from Flathub) and it looks pretty (imo) as it does little thumbnails for everything. Although I’ve been meaning to try Copyous as it has that + at pointer paste.
