I’m not giving up either FUTO product though

big_slap@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•No one asked for this: Google is testing round keys in GboardEnglish10·6 months agoI use the futo keyboard as well, but autocorrect and swiping is not good at all. correctly spelt words constantly gets changed for me, clipboard doesn’t see what I copy too many times and swiping inaccuracy is too frequent.
only reason I put up with it is for the futo microphone. mic app is in a league of it’s own

its always been like this, you just haven’t been paying attention cause it wasn’t as in-your-face until now.
I’d argue that it was in our face before, the powers that be just do a good job of distracting us

#anybody got pointers for those who don’t know the signs of bait?
a good one I go by is: if it illicits a strong emotion within seconds of reading whatever you are reading, any emotion, its probably bait.
big_slap@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•Google working on RCS encryption between Android and iPhoneEnglish132·11 months agowas hype, but no encryption between android and iOS makes me weary. good start though!
edit: after reading the article:
The governing GSMA body says the “next major milestone is for the RCS Universal Profile to add important user protections such as interoperable end-to-end encryption.”
“This will be the first deployment of standardized, interoperable messaging encryption between different computing platforms, addressing significant technical challenges such as key federation and cryptographically-enforced group membership. Additionally, users will benefit from stronger protections from scam, fraud, and other security threats.” — GSMA
Google added today that it’s “working with the broader ecosystem to bring cross-platform E2EE to RCS chats as soon as possible.” The Google Messages app on Android today offers its own E2E encryption for RCS 1:1 and group conversations that does not extend to iPhone chats.
“We’re proud to have offered end-to-end encryption (E2EE) in Google Messages with RCS since 2020. We believe that E2EE is a critical component of secure messaging, and we have been working with the broader ecosystem to bring cross-platform E2EE to RCS chats as soon as possible. Google is committed to providing a secure and private messaging experience for users, and we remain dedicated to making E2EE standard for all RCS users regardless of the platform.” — Google
OK, baby steps!

big_slap@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•A Plan for Social Media - Rethinking FederationEnglish7·1 year agoI agree with pretty much everything you’ve stated except for:
The problem is, too many people keep trying to think, how can we make the Fediverse relevant in the modern world?
I dont think this is a problem. The fediverse accomplishes exactly what it sought to do, a decentralized social network. This is uncharted territory and has been working out surprisingly well. I thought I would be off this 2 months after reddit killed 3rd party clients, but here I am!!
the minute we start to push growth at any cost is the minute the fediverse quality declines, in my opinion.

yeah, this is the first time I’ve heard of it
