  • Lol, no, “the movement” is frowned upon by some because they want to finish up their genocide in peace.

America will soon be the only country in the security council not to recognize Palestine. This is America’s genocide, not only Israel’s. So of course some folks in America will be a bit touchy about people criticizing it.

Some red paint on a building is pretty mild compared to, I don’t know, genocide? Whoever is more upset by this than by every single truck refused entry to or bomb dropped in Gaza needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

  • There’s no real difference, content flows freely between the two platforms.

I’m writing this in piefed - does it make my comment “piefed content”, while your comment is “Lemmy content”?

The distinction makes no sense. And that’s the point - use whatever platform you prefer, enjoy the same content anywhere you go. There is no “piefed content” or “lemmy content”, only content. :)

  • European legal systems are largely built around the idea that courts are apolitical, and that judges make their decisions neutrally based on the word of the law and the facts of the case.

This is of course impossible, but some people—especially judges themselves—are afraid that the system would collapse if the public learned how political the work of courts really is. So when France started publishing all the judgments of their courts to the public, they also forbade the public from studying individual judges.

    It’s pretty funky.

  • Can only speak for myself but I’m some sort of neoluddite with a passionate hate for both the AI hype and Google.

Even if the people in charge of Mozilla are acting in good faith, I believe they are repeatedly shooting the whole organization in the foot with their stupid-ass decisions.

I used to feel lke Mozilla represented my interests online. Now they act as if they are just another tech company working to create technology I hate.

I still use FireFox on all my devices. I don’t trust some random fork, WebKit browsers are just not stable enough on Linux, and I refuse to use Chromium. But my god I’m tired of Mozilla’s shit.

  • Fair enough. But musicians are not really “any type of venture”.

Bandwagon is already taking on a risk by hosting music for free for listening. If they could find ways in which both them and the artists could profit from music published on the platform that lacks the commercial potential to justify a €10 subscription, this would be a win/win. Considering that it seems they are already hosting the music for free.
