Hi hello, this is partly me. My bad. I’m not moving to Win11 (by force and by choice) so I installed Arch just to start to get the hang of things and, well, now I’m just daily driving it.

I’ve run distributions in the distant past and toyed with recent ones. I think this one is staying though.

Feels good that when my computer is idle, it’s not busy spouting off telemetry to some server somewhere. I can customize way more than before, and with Proton, I can still play the games I want to.

I have Firefox on iOS and a DNS ad blocker and it’s still hell, what am I missing?

Edit: oops my phone was somehow un-set from my DNS blocker. Looks much nicer. Still one ad at the top for an app, but far less intrusive

I imagine it as a new dimension growing “up” out of the X/Y plane (as burrowing into the ground would be going into “occupied” space, it’s forbidden). But “depth” does make that make more sense.

I always thought about it like this. Put your fancy page with X-Y coordinates on the ground. Add a new dimension perpendicular to the ground. This is the Z-axis, it goes up.

Wiimmfi distributes those events periodically. You just need to get them in HG/SS and then you can select them.

Alright, so I have had Jellyfin installed for years now, but my primary issue is that most devices myself or my users use lack official, readily-available clients. For example, the Samsung TV app is a developer mode install. Last I looked, nobody has put a build into the store.

I really want to use Jellyfin, but I feel like my users simply can’t. I’m interested in others’ experiences here that could help.

My experience is that both Plex and Jellyfin pointed at the same media files causes no issues.

If you expected Analogue to have a reasonable amount of product (ready for release or otherwise), you have not been paying attention.

Yep, developers will optimize their game for their wants and needs. It’s not the engine’s fault, it’s the developers’ for using techniques that don’t perform well on current technology. Unreal 5 could run well on launch on then-current technology.

For context: I was very young around the NES & SNES era, but a lot of kids back then went to play at other kids’ houses. Not every household had one, but one of my friends would and I’d want to go play at their house because they had one. In this way, 30 million NES’ could reach far more million people (kids), leading to modern nostalgia.

Personally, my grandpa had a NES and I ALWAYS wanted to go to his house to play Duck Hunt.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are both WAY slower than Platinum. In particular there’s just a delay between every action and Pokémon losing health in battle is excruciatingly slow. Mostly fixed in Platinum.

Scarcity and some artificial scarcity called grading. Take for example Pokémon vintage trading card game packs. Base set has a bunch of print differences but even buying a normal unlimited version pack is $300-400. The value of a Charizard, if you pull it out of that pack, is ~$200-400 raw. However, if you grade it and it comes back a 10, it’s suddenly “worth” $1000+.

This is not quite as prevalent in video games but it is happening. The price of popular Pokémon games that are complete in box are sky high because someone somewhere wants to buy it and submit it for the chance it’s “worth” 10x the price.

I know this is a thread for someone new, but perhaps as a future fix: I grabbed a mini PC to do plex transcoding and all of Plex’s content is on a separate NAS with a 14TB RAID. I think the mini PC has 500GB by default

You don’t have to self-censor on YouTube, but YouTube / advertisers has/have every right to not monetize things they don’t like.

You also don’t have to self-censor if you host your own content. /shrug
