helloyanis@jlai.luto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•google is not and never was your friend, it is a dictator tool: Degoogle54·8 months agoNo better time than the present to switch to OpenStreetMap
For Android, I use OsmAnd~ which uses OpenStreetMap data and allows you to download maps to calculate routes offline, something Google Maps couldn’t do for routes by foot and by bike last time I tried.
It also has better coverage for some small paths in natural areas like forests. Give it a try!

It’s not for S/MIME but for OpenPGP keys, another method of email signing and encryption which does not require the certification by an authority (Actalis)
It’s a website to list all OpenPGP public keys, and I know thunderbird (for desktop at least) automatically looks there whenever you write an email to an address to see if it has a public key.
As far as I understand, there are some advantages and disadvantages on OpenPGP, mainly :
- Actalis generates your private key, so if you follow the S/MIME tutorial they’ll be able to decrypt your messages. With OpenPGP it’s done locally on your computer so you don’t need to send your private key to anyone.
- However, there is no way to easily revocate an OpenPGP key, so if yours leak, you can’t just go on your Actalis dashboard and revocate it.
It’s up to you to pick a method based on your needs!
Yes, it does!
helloyanis@jlai.luOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Just made a Firefox add-on that autoselects your last used language of your Lemmy posts to automatically select it again next time.Français3·11 months agoThe best thing I can think of is to contribute to the Lemmy front-end itself, but since I’m not familiar with the framework they use, and how the project is structured, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it for the forseeqble future. Feel free to open an issue about this on their GitHub however!
helloyanis@jlai.luOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Just made a Firefox add-on that autoselects your last used language of your Lemmy posts to automatically select it again next time.3·11 months agoWell, it seems like it’s going to be a little more tricky. There’s no ID to detect the post sorting selection menu. For the language select, I could look for elements containing the ID
language-select
but it does not seem to be possible for post sorting. The best thing I could think of is to add
?sort=Old
,?sort=New
to the URL but it does not seem to affect the sorting unless the button is actually clicked or the page fully reloads. If I could consistently select the elements that allow for filtering (and be careful that it doesn’t conflict with other types of filtering on other pages), I could do it, but right now I don’t see a solution.

Add-on even lighter than before! Let’s save those bytes~
Wait a few hours for Mozilla to approve it then update to v1.1, or get it now from GitHub releases!

helloyanis@jlai.luOPto Privacy@lemmy.ml•[Guide] 🔏 Digitally sign and send encrypted emails with S/MIMEEnglish1·9 months agoI don’t think it’s possible to do that, but I have no experience on this since I don’t use my own email server so I could very well be wrong.
helloyanis@jlai.luOPto Privacy@lemmy.ml•[Guide] 🔏 Digitally sign and send encrypted emails with S/MIMEFrançais1·1 year agoAwesome, i spent a long time writing it and I’m happy you find it useful!
helloyanis@jlai.luOPto Privacy@lemmy.ml•[Guide] 🔏 Digitally sign and send encrypted emails with S/MIMEFrançais1·1 year agoSo as I understand :
- Actalis is a trusted authority among others but is the only one to issue free S/MIME certificates that I found. You need to use a trusted authority to make the signature, or else your email client will say “Cannot verify signature authenticity” and show a red badge. This explains it better
- When you sign your email, you include your public key in the signature. So just sign every email (usually an option in your client) to let anyone you email have your public key. I don’t really understand why you would need to change stuff in the email server.
Besides Funkwhale, I’m not sure there is anything else at the moment (someone please correct me if I’m wrong)
There are radios on Funkwhale, but these are just a random playlist of songs from a set list (like “Piano radio” for example)
Peertube has a livestreaming function that could be used as a radio closer to the actual sense of the word (with someone animating it), but it would take a lot of effort and I haven’t found any radio channels on Peertube. If you have a great idea, go for it and it might take off! 🎉
