Not surprising that they used the Irish Data Protection Office to implement these. They probably paid them off quite handsomely, or they are simply incompetent. Im leaning more towards a mix of both with incompetence being higher given how my reddit case was handled with them.

Its sad how this is the state of things, but something must be done. I hope with the news weve been receiving from Germany recently that this will change long term, and not just for the current government. Hopefully it will snowball and have a ripple effect on other EU countries.

As a helpdesk guy, this type of issue happens with microsoft office just as often. People tend to memorise where the thing they use everyday is, and any update that changes where it is or how it functions “breaks” their flow of doing their task. We as technical people tend to simply have the skills to use a search engine to find out where it moved/how to solve our problem, but they dont.
While I havent been using libreoffice that long or as intensively as a government enployee would so I cant comment on if its the best OSS office suit for this situation, Im just happy they are starting the switch away from microsoft and CSS and finally waking up.

/usr/share/systemd/bootctl/arch.conf
and there was noinitrd /amd-ucode.img (or intel-ucode.img)

Furthermore, for step 3 I didnt have any entry starting with
ALL_microcode=
I have yet to do step 5 fyi. Thank you

promitheas@iusearchlinux.fyito Privacy@lemmy.ml•Any EU based users of reddit should immediately file a complaint under GDPR with their supervisory authority7·2 years agoMy DPO basically told me that since reddit told me (I contacted reddit first as per the GDPR) that I can delete my comments myself I should go ahead and do that, and that my case was closed. Even after telling her that there were still 2 comments visible only when my profile is viewed “signed out”, and I provided a screenshot of a regular browser window where I am signed in and an incognito window where I am not, her reply was that once I delete my account they will not be linked to me in any way so they do not violate the GDPR…
promitheas@iusearchlinux.fyito Privacy@lemmy.ml•Any EU based users of reddit should immediately file a complaint under GDPR with their supervisory authority21·2 years agoIve been engaged in discussion with my country’s data protection officer since the summer, and the reply I got was that I should delete comments myself. There are 2 comments that appear on my profile only if viewed while I am signed out, and when I raised the concerns with her I basically got the reply that “there is no personal information contained within and once you delete your account there is no username attached to them so you cant be linked with them”. Is she right, and how do I handle this situation?

Honestly i think as citizens we should start setting up guillotines outside parliaments. That should remind them that they may feel invulnerable but we can always get them.
Bonus: to really scare them, set up a little cooker thing with a table next to it. The phrase “eat the rich” comes to mind, though in this context it would be more like eat the powerful
