I went for kiss and very very low resources: All my logs go to one central syslog. That takes in the logs, filters out crap, send critical messages to IRC and writes logs to postgres. Then grafana queries the postgresdb

Well hate is to strong for me, but so far I think it’s hyped, not helpful and mostly used as an excuse to gather all data the want (and even all that they don’t want)

redlemace@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What should I call the cable I need? *solved2·9 days agoAbsolutely; although the color itself isn’t important. You need RJ45/RJ45 and I’d suggest cat5e or better

redlemace@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What should I call the cable I need? *solved5·9 days agoForget about your first image/question then … that my friend needs just a regular lan cable. RJ45 at both ends. No telephony involved here

redlemace@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What should I call the cable I need? *solved5·9 days agoThe gray one only seems to have two contacts, so it for phones/modems. The yellow one is more common for networking. For compatibility reasons often used in outlets too. The yellow one is RJ45, the gray one RJ11
So, what you are looking for is an RJ45/RJ11 cable. (cat-3 cable will suffice but higher works too). Alternatively you can use an RJ45/RJ12 (same specs). The difference is RJ12 has 6 wires where RJ11 has only two. Since you have only two in the gray one, both can do the job.

I used/tried Ubuntu a few times -just because some solutions announce it as their supported platform- but I got tired of how they push snaps, and so I stay on Debian. Last week I went to deb13 on various machines and so far had no other task then fixing deprecated python functions in my own scripts, which isn’t abnormal. The one ‘issue’ I had was a PHP version mismatch in an apache2 config. So I’m (still) happy with Debian! And like @eugenia@lemmy.ml wrote, every 2 years (give or take) a fresh install is how I like to do it.
redlemace@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does one join a terror group? Like example ISIS , do people go to a secret website sign up and get provided flags, bomb parts, or whatever? Or is it just a person saying what they did was for ISIS51·15 days agoHope you’re not looking for guide lines, so roughly, A terror group is not a bookclub. You can’t sign up and be in. They don’t run a fanclub mercandice store either. I guess you kind of roll/grow in to it. But yes, there also wannabes claiming they are part of a group while they are not., for whatever reason.
If you use new encryption and not re-use the existing I’d say there is no advantage in wiping
I installed I3 a few times. I did not get it and I was to lazy to look up how to use it. Somehow your post made me install it again. This time I took that moment to look up how to use it. Less than 15 min later I found myself banging my head against the wall. Should have looked it’s usage up the first time I installed it. This is what I need like 70% of the time. THNX!
Not fair ! Shame her instead!
i don’t care it does not care
Yes and no. When became it okay to stop thinking for yourself and blindly follow AI advice or internet advice in general became OK? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still no fan of AI, but nothing discharges one from thinking for yourself.
