Is UserLAnd still maintained? Assuming I found the right forge, the last activity is 4 years old. While I agree that a piece of software can simply be finished, I worry about compatibility in the moving ecosystem of Android.

The adjective ‘federated’ is often used for these protocols. There are federated protocols other than email: XMPP, Matrix, ActivityPub, etc.

Wise requires me to use the app as 2FA in order to log into their web interface. How do you log in without the app?

sylphio@lemmy.mlto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Best approach to selfhosting Synapse (Matrix)?English3·4 months agoFrom what I read, using anything but Synapse requires to compromise on features/compatibility. I know this is not the dev’s fault, it’s from the way the Matrix spec evolve. Do you know of any resource regarding the current features/compatibility of tuwunel/conduwuit? I am particularly curious about:
- bridges
- element-call
- threads
- session verification (e.g. emoji comparison over federation)
If you are not looking to selfhost, how about a Matrix provider?
For example, etke.cc has offers from 15 USD/month. There are plenty of options, see etke.cc/order
I am not affiliated with them, I just happen to have heard of them because they are well-known and have an excellent reputation. There are others. See e.g. matrix.org/ecosystem/hosting
It can share screen.

It’s in beta, but it’s already quite usable. You can try it without account on a public instance e.g. at call.element.io

I am not an expert, but I see that the Apache license has no copyleft.
Have you heard of Beeper?
I think Matrix has bridges to all these networks, except ActivityPub (it may, I just don’t know).
I don’t know about OP, but it is available in https://thecapslock.gitlab.io/fdroid-patched-apps/fdroid/repo and https://calyxos.gitlab.io/calyx-fdroid-repo/fdroid/repo
I have seen many different ways to achieve that in Emacs. Do you have one to recommend (modes, packages)? Do you synchronise calendars with other devices (e.g. smartphone, server)?

It might be possible with the Modular Android XMPP Service. I have never used it, so cannot help much. Nevertheless, it seems to have modules to notify of received SMS over XMPP. It may even be possible to send instructions to write a SMS.
