The machine the company issues you isn’t yours, it’s theirs. Wiping out their image and installing another OS is a fantastic way to get fired. If you handle any PII, HIPAA, or PCI data it’s also a fantastic way to get sued or charged with a crime.

Its not difficult to self host email. Ispconfig will do all the work for you locally, then you just need to set up your DNS records. The difficult part is staying on top of patching and block lists.

I dunno if Toyota ever paywalled performance, but they definitely paywall features. My '15 Lexus requires a subscription service to use remote start. Its app based and relies on the car’s 2g cellular card so it doesn’t even work anymore.
