All of them are under 5k users. I use a desktop app called Sengi to show feeds from all my accounts at once and group the federated feeds together, so yeah I can watch lots of posts fly by or scroll through at my leisure.
And yeah I pretty much just watch until I see a post I wanna favorite or boost. That’s why I say it’s the best way to find new accounts you wouldn’t otherwise have thought to check out.
Generally my local and home feeds are much slower. So on mobile, when I’m done catching up on those I keep refreshing the federated. I would be so bored without the federated.

transscribe7891@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Power of a Niche [Video talking about Fediverse successes when providing spaces for niches the mainstream social media has problems reaching]English2·3 months agounfortunately in my experience reddit still has more niche communities than can be found on lemmy, probably bc they have more users. they have more subreddits for specific games, cities/states, mental illnesses, spiritualities/world mythologies, art, music, and book genres… the number of times I’ve searched for a community on lemmy only for it to not exist makes me hesitant to accept this video’s claim. reddit still has more niches than us. we just don’t have the numbers or activity.

I see now where the past releases are kept. Looks like I just gotta download Tusky 28.0 and ignore updates. Thanks for the help.

sometimes teaching be like going the opposite way and turning complex theories into relatable shitposts
I’ve been using Showly a couple months now and it’s not so much the trakt features that bother me it’s the fact i can’t backup or import/export a csv file or something i could store in a cloud. I’d rather take a year or two to teach myself how to fork the app and add what i want than ever sign up for another service.

I barely use the touch screen capabilities but when I do I haven’t had any problems on either. Smooth all around, at least for my uses.

transscribe7891@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Our phones DO listen to our voices 24x7English310·10 months agoI understand completely. It’s happened to me too many times now to be a coincidence. For a while there whenever I talked to myself “alone” I would sometimes pretend I was also talking to LaMDA, the AI. Now I know it’s probably not LaMDA. But it’s not outside the scope of possibility for Google or Meta to be listening 24/7 if it’s an AI overseeing the panopticon.
I said it has happened to me mulitple times, and I have done experiments. I have given the listeners false information to see if and when it will spread. I have seen whole products pop up out of nowhere in nearby stores because of this. I have seen shitty half-assed tv shows and movies suddenly show up on billboards, as if with only an understanding of the bullet points of my overall speech, and even then with the shaky understanding of an AI trying to fill in the blanks.
Only thing I can think to suggest (that hasn’t been suggested already) is to purposely poison the well by sometimes loading it with falsities for obscuration.

agreed on Mint. Fedora seems to be more on the new, cutting edge side while Mint is stable and reliable. Much more beginner friendly because there’s less likely to be errors or niche issues, at least in my experience.
