No phones, period. The phone will still send out signals, just that it won’t be allowed service onto networks without the SIM card. They can still trace the phone to the point it turned on and since you used it previously as a personal phone there’s probably records they can pull on it from your carrier at the time. They can probably trace it to you via the various numbers tied specifically to that phone. As much of a PITA it is, getting a small digital camera is the way to go as long as it doesn’t do any connectivity. Just be sure to scrub the meta data on all pictures if you share them or post them online.

Part of what to take away from this, do not go to organized events with your phone, leave it at home. They can easily and readily track you with it on or off.

If they don’t punish you specifically they’ll punish everyone with you.

If it’s a state/federal building you can’t even bring the ammo and that’s still the least of concern. The person getting a firearm can get replacement magazines and ammunition for it easily. People concerned for the safety of others and not wanting it stolen will get small gun safe boxes that bolt into the car someway to stow it.

As well reciprocal states that recognize it so you can transport them with minimal issues as well. It’s one reason to get one regardless of being in a constitutional carry state.

Not just bears and really there’s better ways to deal with bears generally to avoid confrontation with them as well as other critters. Still, there’s definitely instances where people will want to be carrying regardless for self protection. Hiking in remote areas you should have a rifle, farmers in the more rural areas of the country are likely to have something to deal with coyotes, wolves, bears, etc. that may threaten them or their live stock. I remember seeing a youtube video about living far north in Alaska that when it’s time to take the dogs out to do their business they bring a high powered rifle for polar bears. But me going to my local game store, there’s no real reason to be packing. ESPECIALLY open carry.

I actually looked into migrating a bit under Bush and they were more lax then. It was at least a year waiting list, you often had to have a marketable skill of some sort in demand in the country or enough money to basically never work again there. You had to have a clean record, pay several thousand for paperwork and lawyers, wait for approval, some wanted you to try and find employment before hand. It’s probably much stricter no as I doubt I could immigrate to Canada from the USA. They’re looking primarily for healthcare workers now and a lot of places because of their aging populations and lower birth rates. It’s nuts.

You can blame the USA government for setting standards for light bulbs that planned obsolescence became a thing. They recommended to make light bulbs with filament that burns after a certain time of use to prompt more purchases of light bulbs. And that’s where everyone else got the brilliant idea to make things not last as long. As well people didn’t have the funds to buy new appliances all the time, they were still a relative luxury so if you made something that broke in a year and cost $300 back then you might have a mob with shotguns at your door.

For LGBT+ and PoC it’s been a violent, fascist state against them for a long time. Just now it’s affecting the white people to a point they’re uncomfortable with but make no mistake, they’ll just let it happen again in a few more years.

People talk of Imgur being a leftist echo chamber. I have had more than enough neoliberal types on there argue about the benefits of capitalism to me or that we shouldn’t have worker solidarity. I feel when these events happen, it’s part legitimately pissed of users but a lot of people just riding the up vote wagon.

I just gave up imgur myself for voicing an opinion of civil disobedience and then told why don’t I go there myself with a gun and start shooting. Nuance seems to be dead everywhere.
