I’d love BTT on Linux too. The hardest thing for me with a move from macOS to Linux is losing the ability to zip about the OS with a trackpad. Also, I’ve had BTT set for years so that clicking the middle button on a mouse shows Mission Control. God, I wish I could work out how to do that in Mint.
I put Sequoia on my 2011 MBP, but it felt like a step too far for the poor old gal. So I wiped the drive and put Mint on it. Runs nice. My 2014 Mini server is running Mint too.
Asahi’s pretty decent now, so far as I’m concerned. They’ve still not cracked having more than one display, but otherwise I can’t think of anything I’ve not been able to do with it.
A couple of years back (pretty much when I canned Twitter for Mastodon), I decided to actively be more positive in my online interactions. And you know, it’s been great.
For example, if I see a post on a movie community on here along the lines of “What movie do you hate, even though it’s really popular?” I’ll just sail on by. At most I’ll mark it as hidden so I don’t get tempted to wallow in negativity.
10/10 I can heartily recommend just ignoring things that are framed negatively, and people who try to draw you into a row for their own entertainment.
Is 256gb RAM enough for YouTube?
That’s more than mildly infuriating.
Oh, that’s a shame. I was on the TestFlight for Mammoth right back at the start, when everyone was looking for a decent app because Twitter had just murdered Tweetbot.
It was a fine app, but Ivory ended up being slightly more fine.
Actually, it’s mostly GM.
This reminds me of a great documentary: Who Killed The Electric Car?
Mint on my ancient MacBook because I didn’t really know any better and it’s working just nice for me, and Asahi/Fedora on my M1 mini, because it’s the only option.
Also; tribalism.
Cool, you crack on using Twitter then.
I have no strawman. I had a wickerman, but, well, it’s awkward.
It’s not that weird, given that they’re both examples of Fediverse software that can (in theory, though not well in practice) interact with each other.
As for Masto being separate instances; I’ve never really had a problem with that. Follow a bunch of people from different servers and you’ll soon begin to federate and link up with other people.
I see folks posting on Mastodon, griping that it’s failing, that it’ll never be as popular as Bluesky and Threads because of X and Y, and I’m like, I’m over there chatting to people all day, having a fine time, following new people, picking up new followers, and generally enjoying it more than I ever really enjoyed Twitter.
I don’t really understand why those folks want it to be more than it is.
“Oh, but there are no journalists!”
Good? I don’t want endless ragebait posted in my feeds. I just wanna be chill, share music recommendations, and enjoy more people interacting with my radio show than ever did on Twitter.
I think you mean Jeb!
Have you thought about using Arch?
I use Arch, btw.
