PCs and all devices will become more locked down, with a small rebellious minority. Pretty much what we have today, but the divide will become greater.

All consumer devices are designed for the consumer to consume content. Music, Movies, Books, TV Shows, Web Sites, Social Media, Video Games…all of it. Very, very few people at the consumer level use computing power to perform complex calculations or process large datasets.

All of that content is someone else’s creation, and they want to get paid for their creation. Either by you directly purchasing/subscribing to what they’ve created, or via advertisers. Everyone has rent or a mortgage and bills to pay and they want to buy food and buy stuff for their kids.

Any time you sit in front of a screen, whether it’s a TV or a PC or a smartphone and begin to consume content, think about that. Whoever created what you’re looking at wants money, just like you want money.

So when a PC isn’t locked down to make sure you’re somehow paying for the content you consume, that upsets the entire supply chain that is delivering this content to your eyes and ears. They have to make sure they’re somehow getting paid…

I mean getting 4 or 8 or 12 or 16 hours a day of work out of me is kind of ridiculous anyway. I don’t have a job where X hours = Y production. “40 hours” a week is just my employer’s antiquated way of quantifying my work. I would prefer they just let me handle my responsibilities.

I work a 4x10 workweek right now. Huge improvement on my quality of life. I use my free weekday to handle chores and shopping and appointments, then actually spend my weekend with my family. I’ve been doing this for about 3 years.

I know I’ll lose this someday. Eventually somebody will use it against me. That’s the day I’ll start entertaining new opportunities.

Totally agree but for the opposite reason.

Wrasslin’ is very story driven. Not everyone has time to watch, and the sports news outlets is all spoilers.

It’s like a Harry Potter fan opening their news feed to “Snape kills Dumbledore after epic battle!” plastered all over the news on the day after the book came out. (my apologies to any Harry Potter fans who haven’t read all the books or seen all the movies by now, in 2025).

I know professional wrestling is as real as the MCU or the latest episode of Severance. I am still entertained by all three.

Wrestling winds up in the “sports” section because news outlets have to classify it somehow. That’s not the fault of wrestling fans.

There’s really no need in life to yuck other people’s yum. If it’s not for you, that’s cool.

Just to be clear I don’t want to own and run a Taco Truck, I just heard the Ice Cream Truck and wished it was a Taco Truck.

Seems like missed opportunity to me, though.

I stopped being excited for the Ice Cream Truck decades ago, but if I heard the Taco Truck coming around I’d be super excited and run outside with a big grin.
