I don’t disagree; that was never my point. My point is the term “atheist” carries a lot of baggage, that might make people not want to associate with it for many reasons that are unrelated to what the word actually means. Especially in the West where the term is severely maligned.
I think “atheist” carries the connotations of being irreligeous, not just not believing in any gods. So some people may not believe in any gods, but maybe they do have some kind of spirituality, or believe in ghosts or something. Buddhism as a religion doesn’t mandate God-belief, though some schools do interact with devas. I’m unsure if any other religions don’t require gods to work, but even if they exist, I imagine they and Buddhists, despite not believing in any gods, will be very hesitant to describe themselves as “atheist.”
This is such a conflicting story.
On one hand, this is how it should be: incentivizing safe behavior.
On the other hand, this is absolutely for publicity and secularly abusing children to try and repair the irreparable damage they’ve done to their own image.
Remember: if the law isn’t on your side, neither are the cops.

But yeah, I think shit like that would just make devs want to go work for a company, because at least when they make a shitty closed sourced, exploitive program people are mad at the company, not them, specifically. They don’t have to deal with this shit.

From the NSRV, one of the preferred standards of Biblical scholars. A few places where Christ, if not outright says, heavily implies he is the Messiah, which is the reason the Jewish leaders wanted him put to the death.

In general, we can also see in both Jewish and Christian scripture that a Messiah was a figure that would rise up and deliver the Jewish people from their oppressors. Depending on your religion (or lack there of) and theology, the expectations vary. Earlier in Judaism it could be anybody who freed the Jews such as Cyrus.
However, as time went on, the Messiah became a cosmic figure who would not only restore Israel’s independence, but would also destroy God’s enemies, rally the Jewish people from across the world, establish the Kingdom of God here on earth as a real, physical, political entity, and rule like a king as God’s emmisarry here on earth.
There’s nothing about this that isn’t authoritarian, it just so happens to be benevolent.
There is also far, far more to this topic with many different views ans takes to it because both Christianity and Judaism have a stake in it, and neither of these religions are monolithic. Judaism, specifically being absolutely ancient and having transformed significantly since its earliest records while the beliefs itself predate even the earliest written records. So of course, this is not the only lens with which to view it, but this is the most likely role that Jesus Christ was attempting to fill, the claim that got him killed, and the role most Christians believe he will finish when he returns.
Jesus Christ believes himself to be the Jewish Messiah. The man literally was going to be king of Israel after kicking the Romans out of their land. So like… Yeah. He was also an authoritarian.
Music artists absolutely fucking hate music streaming services! It’s too big to not participate, and in a lot of cases, their record label won’t let them not do so. But the pay is absolute shit! If you care about tbe artist behind the music, buy their music. If you don’t want to have all your music stored on device because it takes too much room, there are self-host options.
Going solely with streaming is actively screwing artists over, especially in the case of Spotify, which pays out to the tune (pun intended) of 0.0001¢ per stream. Even an artist as well known as Weird Al barely makes enough to buy a sandwich from what Spotify pays! Other platforms are better, but not by much. I don’t say this to guilt trip; many big names make good money from record deals and will be just fine, while most of us don’t make much. Indie artists are the real losers here.
That said, music had gotten cheap! Most of your favorite indie artists will sell FLAC versions of their albums for $10 an album, or $1 a song on Bandcamp, and prices are between $10-20 for major artists on platforms like Qobuz. It might take time to build your library back up, but the average person can make a huge difference here by taking the money you would spend on Spotify or any other platform, and buying your music directly. You’d be paying the artist more than they’d get from you streaming nothing but their album every day all year, eventually you’ll be paying less in the long run by not being subbed to a greedy music platform, and you’ll get better quality!

But even if he was still CEO, the fact remains that it’s not just for his employees and pay is still just half the equation: he doesn’t control the price of rent, and the real solution is rent control. Otherwise nothing stops landlords from just raising rent higher ans higher once they figure out that employers will just pay their tenants more.
So yes, good pay matters, and we need comprehensive minimum wage laws and worker protection, but we also need rent control. And preferably to banish all landlords to the shadow realm.

By default, both Plasma and Cinnamon have a very similar set up to Windows.
However, Plasma is insanely modular and customizable, so if you’re willing to take the time to, you can make it look as much like Cinnamon as you please. Given how simple Cinnamon’s design is, I don’t think it would be hard at all.
I realized the hard truth is you don’t get mad at shit you don’t care about. And suddenly a lot of shit I got mad at felt really fucking stupid.
I also learned to take a deep breath before I act in anger, and it often calms me down enough to find a better solution.

This, tbh. Propaganda is a hell of a drug. And the worst part is, it’s not a drug most people willingly take. They’re blindsided, their phycology is abused to suck them in, and before long, without even realizing it, they’re in a completely different reality, scared and paranoid. It’s terrifying and sad.
My comment wasn’t “Linux works perfectly in every single regard.” It was “Linux isn’t hard to use for the things that do work on it.” I’m well aware Linux isn’t right for every use-case, nor did I say it was, I said it wasn’t hard to use. Compatibility is a separate issue here.
It depends! You’ll get a lot of recommendations. And they’re probably good recommendations. But there are most certainly Distros out there that are very simple. I would suggest you don’t be afraid to Distro Hop until you find one that you really feel at home on.
If you’re looking for something that’s simple, out of the box, and out of your way, I’d avoid anything Arch based. Ubuntu or Debian based Distros will have the most documentation and therefore minimize the amount of time you spend looking for answers, however, Fedora based Distros, in my experience, are rock solid and sit comfortably between stable and the bleeding edge.
I’ve never played Rimworld, so I don’t know the modding situation on it.
I attempted to mod Skyrim, and as far as I can tell, it’s not that the mods don’t work, it’s that the primary mod manager Nexus is currently using (Vortex) is kind of a pain in the ass to set up on Linux. They are currently working on a new mod manager that should be natively compatible and should resolve that issue.
But for every other game I’ve ever modded on Linux it works exactly the same as it does on Windows.
Truthfully, outside of the handful of games that don’t want me playing them because of my OS, 90% of my games work exactly the same, if not better. The remaining 10% might require a little tinkering to get running, or have some weird hiccup (having to run it in Proton instead of native because for some reason they’re “different versions” thus menaing I can only play with friends on Windows in the Proton version), but I honestly couldn’t be happier.
It feels like I’m playing on my computer again, not Microsoft’s computer.
