Gay marriage is still effectively illegal in many areas and the push for completely illegal is constant
“Most jobs” could be done remotely depending on how you’d see most. Almost all office jobs can be done remotely. If you’re in front of a computer all day, you are likely able to do it remotely. You do not have to physically be in an office. If I had to guess, they asked a bunch of office workers as they had more time to actually go through questions like this
I contend that the US has not stopped being at war since at least Regan or Bush sr. See: Afghanistan starting with the support of the mujahideen

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is the progress pride flag so poorly designed (especially the intersex progress pride flag)? Will it be redesigned?
13·8 months agoI was thinking more adding from outside the visible spectrum. So a flag with the entire electromagnetic spectrum from ~10^-20 m to ~10^17 m
Honestly, I can barely believe it’s actually real. There’s gotta be some catch that actually makes it much worse or, at best, nothing at all.
Similar to our labor laws regarding lunch and breaks. IF a company offers breaks, if they’re less than 20min, they must be paid breaks. Heavy on the IF as companies are not required to have them.

What I’d like to become the standard is:
If the question makes it super obvious the asker has zero clue what they’re asking or trying to do, lightly correct and steer them to beginner friendly resources.
If the question is competent but focusing the wrong direction or will lead to a bad habit, essentially, they know just enough to be dangerous but they’re about to be dangerous, more pointed and technical correction and steering them to either articles or better search terms to use.
If it’s a pointed question with the information to show they’ve done the normal information gathering and either need opinions that are beyond the theory or book standard information or they don’t answer the question, answer the question. Ideally also giving sources to back up your answers.
Bonus points if you can do the above without coming across as a dick. Unless they ask to ask. You can be a dick to those people.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Checking to see what movies were playing tonight. Didn't even know this movie existed. Decided to check and see how packed it was in my rural Eastern NC town. This is for the showing starting in 30min
2·1 year agoFor some comparison, wife and I went to a Tuesday noonish showing of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and there were more than 8 people. So, at a time slot that would be totally understandable to have 1-2 people at a showing, there were way more than for this waste of digital space.

What I believe they mean is that the same people who’d use it as a demeaning slur and something to avoid are the same who would never touch a book after not being required to do so … And likewise vote for people who’s entire platform is fear mongering and hate towards the “other”.
