Open Source@lemmy.ml•HDMI Forum is unwilling to disclose the 2.1 specification for open-source (Linux): according to AMD, they had submitted a functional, HDMI 2.1-compatible driver [for linux?], which the Forum rejected.
101·4 days agoOkay but I have a usbc slot, speakers, stylus, and an audio jack all on the bottom of my new phone. It’s bullshit that they needed the room as evidenced by this 2025 phone.
It can also use an sdcard. Greedy fucking corporations just wanting you to repurchase stuff you already have.

104·4 days agoJust bought a new phone that has an audio jack. Some of us refuse to “come around”. They can fit a stylus and an audio jack in this thing. Why did they remove the audio jack again? Not enough room? Bullshit

It’s excellent and shouldn’t be.
Can’t get behind that from the Has Been album

2·9 days agoThe charismatic voice is working with the university of Alabama(I think it was) to understand metal and Rock singers vocal techniques. Chris Cornell has come up many times in those videos
She has done a lot of videos on them and, as professionally trained opera singer and vocal coach, is very much a fan of what that end of the vocal pool has done
Worth checking out some of her videos. Certainly better than whoever the hell this idiot is

Game Development@programming.dev•Does a MUD engine with support for time zones exist?
3·17 days agoI used to play a modified circlemud 3.0
Iirc different “zones” could have different weather, though I can’t remember if the they had different day night cycles, but even if they didn’t that doesn’t mean you can’t make it work the way you want it to.
Not sure what you are planning but I may have a bunch of old zmud maps, and I have a spreadsheet and a .TXT document with a while bunch of items statted out that I would be willing to give to you. I might even be able to connect you with someone who last hosted/ran the one I played. Would have to see if they are still around

17·18 days agoShe gunned him down the day I was born.
It’s it weird that him admitting to it makes it that much better? Like she didn’t kill someone who may have been innocent, she ended the right person and from the video was very calm about the after math.
Edit: apparently the video is from a movie

2·26 days ago… No that’s not how it works if you don’t want it to.
He said he paid about 120 dollars extra for some specific type of coverage due to the custom nature of the work on his insurance and when it did get into a collision, he got more than it cost him to repair it.
He did that project as a curiosity and used it as a shop vehicle, and it got a lot of use iirc

3·26 days agoYet. But if you start building that kind of community they will do being janky.
It’s honestly a good place to start.
As people learn how to do it, and discover all the landmines of doing it, that will clear the path fire the next generation of modders and custom work. This would create an opportunity for new markets.
I mean just look at where 3d printing is today. It’s great how far that enthusiast culture has grown and developed. No reason it can’t continue.
Sand things like the Slate truck that is intentionally developed for you to modify, could accelerate that exact community.
Honestly if you can get me the funding, I’ll start this community myself

2·26 days agoWatch a lot of the car renovation shows.
You can have an old car completely renovated for like 30k
That’s cheaper than just about any brand new car.
And you can keep buying old cars. You just are limited in selection.
I know one mechanic who converted an old Chevy S10 into an electric vehicle. It cost also about 30k and that was 13 years ago. He could do it easier, cheaper and better with today’s parts availability.
These are in Canadian prices

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you beat post-work floppiness?
4·1 month agoWhy are we living like this?
No one is going up to people and offering them a better alternative. Literally that’s it.
On a less flippant note, The people who represent us, care more about the orhanizatins who give them money than they do about the needs and wants us the people they are representing.
If you aren’t producing value to pursue who can offer you a better life, then there is no reason for then to offer it to you.
Now add in tradition, culture, religion and a host of other competing morals and opinions, and we have the world of today
None of those reasons are the reasons that were stated for removing it from devices by the manufacturers.
