Works quite well. Scrcpy is some great “just works” piece of software. I use it for all kinds of stuff, from typing with my PCs screen and keyboard in android apps, to remotely connecting to phones hooked up in a lab (using adb over SSH port forwarding, plus reverse forwarding whatevet 27… port scrcpy uses)

I am not sure if the bandwidth is really limited by the controller, or by the modulation / signal-to-noise ratios in practical scenarios.
I am not entirely sure what kind of radio fuckery happens, but my phone (Oneplus 6 with LineageOS) can be connected to a 5 Ghz wifi network and have a 5 GHz hotspot open at the same time.
I am assuming the wifi chip has two (or more) somewhat independent frontends, since my home wifi and the phone hotspot are on two different 5 GHz frequencies.

(*): assuming you mean “works” in the sense of “turns on, lets me use it just fine, does everything that does not require an active cell connection”
My phone does that just fine. It’s a Samsung limitation. All it does is create an access point and forward traffic via its default route.

Depends. I am think the fact that we can access a lot of diverse sources of information is the greatest part of the internet. For example, I do not want to ask a person how this obscure part of this device works, I want to quickly know how this device works. Usually, I tend to use both classic search engines and the hallucination machines, because both can shortcut hours of research or be completely useless, depending on the question.

Signal integrity will probably be fine, you can always go with optical signalling for the long routes. What would be more of an issue is absurd complexity, latency from one end to the other, that kind of stuff. At some point, just breaking it down into a lot of semi-autonomous nodes in a cluster makes more sense. We kind of already started this with multi-core CPUs (and GPUs are essentially a lot of pretty dumb cores). The currently biggest CPUs all have a lot of cores, for a reason.
Not too many, with today’s stupid websites. Plus a bunch of large tools, IDEs, Ghidra, a few containers… it adds up :(

I’ve been on Debian Kde with X11 for this very reason, well, this and the lack of wacom support. But I heard upstream in Kde land, things are a lot better now, so I’m happy to try again. If not, well… see ya in 2 years or so.
