Sounds like you don’t like what I wrote. It’s not a big deal, but it is real. I’ve seen before and after, and what I said is what happened.
Your assumptions are based on your imagination, since you don’t know that I haven’t done that
Smartphones and social media are probably why the kids don’t party like that anymore. They don’t need to gather in one house to all talk when they have their group chats and junk like that. Pretty sad to think about a generation of kids just pissing away their youth looking at a little screen in their hands all day.
Social media has warped many brains into living life as a performance of moments for their feed-posts, and too few exercise their right to Privacy, so everything is tainted with the concept of the Observer that we didn’t have in the past. Yes, we did party like those kids in those movies. It was rad.
Cameras in the house is still creepy. Even baby monitors have been getting hacked for many years already.
Here’s a good example why not to do that: friend was in the process of divorce from a douche spouse, who was technically skilled and had installed security cameras inside and outside the house. They all left them in place knowingly, and the douche spouse who had to move out kept watching the family inside the house and bringing up things that happened in private. I was like “WTF unplug that shit”
MP3 players aren’t bad, they’re just mostly obsolete when smartphones can do the same thing and we mostly already have one.
I like to keep several GB of music on my phone from my MP3 library, and I have no streaming music accounts. I pay once for my music at most.
Another thing VLC can do that some might not be aware of is downloading streaming media to file for storage. If you can find the right stream URL, VLC can save whatever that is to MP4 or your format of choice. Save your favorite shows / streams / podcasts to disk and keep them safe in your own personal media server!
The Sirius XM people are probably hassling you every day now right? Those bastards are the most annoying of any subscription service I think I’ve ever used.
That’s a good point, that is possible but not absolutely certain. I could probably get a smaller version of the wikipedia dump to fit on a BD-R disc but not 69GB.
USB drive or SD card archival might require a 6-month maintenance routine of inserting into a computer and verifying the files are still present etc.
I did already, tried the XOWA client to run a local copy on my PC. Wasn’t as easy as I hoped but it worked.
Planning to get a couple of USBs stashed away with full copies of Wikipedia and the reader app for knowledge security. You can fit the whole thing with a working installation onto a 128GB USB or less. My install dir was about 69GB total.
That’s true but it’s not in the same ballpark as GPS tracking. The phone company knows what county I’m in but probably not what businesses and municipal buildings I enter on foot unlike GPS location services. Bluetooth and Wifi are also disabled when I leave the house to minimize those being used for device tracking.
It’s just good practice to disable all the unused wireless radios in your pocket computer. Don’t turn them on until you need them on. It saves a lot of battery life too.
My kids don’t even have phones, as they do not need them and they are unhealthy for the young brain’s development.
I also don’t use location services on my phones. Fuck all that tracking bullshit.
Correct, I have let gas sit for over a year and it still works fine in carbureted engines like my mower and motorcycle. I just pick up the gas can and swirl it around vigorously to stir up the parts that might have settled. Also this is only non-ethanol gas being stored, probably would be worse with the ~10% ethanol blends that are standard.
I’m going to be optimistic for now that this is a sign that the military is concerned with honoring their oaths to uphold our Constitution by following due process etc, after 100 days of profoundly disturbing attempts by the Executive branch to dishonor the highest of laws in our land.
But how will the phone brains see the pavement markings when they’re not on the phone screen?
I didn’t even know “private” posts were a thing on the fediverse but now I guess I know to watch out for that. Maybe I’ll post some privates after losing about 30 lbs
Nope, that is not correct. The rights remain in place and may be exercised at will.

The people are armed as well.
Maybe it’s the commuters that failed to find a job that’s close enough to be tolerable. I worked one job for a few months where I had a 1-hour each way commute, and it sucked so I job hunted enough to find one with a more tolerable 30-minute commute.
