I’d give this some odds of reducing trash pollution. It can seem frustrating, but it MAY change people’s behavior in a way that reduces litter. Behavioral economics can be counterintuitive.

EDIT: What matters is the result. If this makes more people litter, they should probably bring back the bins. If this reduces litter, they should keep it this way, regardless of how inconvenient or “stupid” you the reader find it.

Got it, so it’s not that the browser passes an extension list to the server, but the server could recognize an extensions impact on the page with local JS or something and then send that info home. Could that in theory be blocked?

Noob here - How come browser extensions can be used in fingerprinting? Why is the fact that I have an extension shared with servers? Why doesn’t a browser like Libre Wolf refuse to share this? Is it really ingrained in the we browsing process to pass that info back? It seems like it should remain on the client-side. I can see Google sharing it but why can’t LibreWolf decide not to?

I don’t think it AI’s your search immediately. It just shows you the option to generate an AI response. At least that’s how it’s been working for me. It’s not doing anything unless you hit that button.
