The point about decentralization is absolutely the fediverse, however my shower thought is basically the second point, where the hyped technology known as blockchain really is only something old called linked lists, which basically is an object holding a reference to the next object in a chain (linked list) or a reference to the previous and next objects in the chain (double linked list). This is essentially how webrings worked.
Currently rewriting my homelab into terraform and adding some redundancies using cloud environments, in case of power outages or network issues.
Nice! Thanks for sharing. Currently looking for a dedicated Kubernetes node for Nextcloud and this might fit nicely.
Makes me miss Singapore.
Great read, thanks for sharing.
Putting a local LLM into a product that doesn’t need it, just like other businesses do, is just one step too far for me. I hate this AI trend with a passion.
Seconded, the pushing AI trend is just off putting and is something that literally no-one asked for. It reminds me of that brief trend of 3D TVs.
You’ll have to pry my pixel 4a out of my cold dead hands.
No, I am actually just saddened by it. I know people voted for him and it’s easy to say they deserved it, but the misery caused by his politics goes so profoundly deep into a society that already have so many people struggling, that I just find it depressing.
Currently trying to figure out how to create and maintain an internal CA in order to enable pod to pod TLS communication, while using letsencrypt for my public ingresses.
Username sort of checks out
It’s okay, no issues with normal use. Not sure about gaming, since I never game anyway. The only issue is that pixel 6 is nearing eol for grapheneos. Still gonna use it after, but might be good to know.
GrapheneOS on my Pixel 6, all others (Xiaomi mi 8, LG g5) run LineageOS.
Can’t speak for everyone, but being root/Admin on a computer come with dangers, one of them being security. Beyond that I, there are also individuals that don’t want to or don’t have the time to learn skills that aren’t strictly necessary for their job.
I would tell myself to not push emotions away, since they would inevitably return as anxiety.
Excellent point, thank you!
I use dperson/samba, which is both simple and comes with usage examples.
I will be moving my entire homelab to a different country, which currently consist of two kubernetes nodes, a NAS and various home automation devices. I will be scaling down gradually, taking cold storage backups of everything and plan to resurrect everything on new hardware once I have moved.
I barely understand the “memes” in linuxsucks, it’s just a massive circle jerk.
Yes, always!
