fulcrummed@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is the most easy instrument that anyone could pick up?13·23 days agoCouple of sticks and an upside down bucket - you’ve got a drum. Add another bucket - bam! Drumkit! You’d be surprised how much sound and rhythm you can get from what’s around you using a couple of sticks. Get actual drum sticks if you wanna splurge. Listen to the Brazilian drums in Paul Simon’s The Obvious Child and just have a play. So much fun!
Sure, I like someone who knows what they want. Have three! I had a bit of a rude shock once it was too late to back out - I was like “who the hell glued these quarters down man?!”
Still gotta seal the area. Getting to this point took me far longer than I care to admit.
Ologies with Ali Ward (aka DadWard) I listened to it yesterday while fixing my hard wood floorboards - pretty interesting hey. I kept thinking the guest sounded a lot like Will Forte.
fulcrummed@lemmy.worldto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Print refusing to stay flat in cornersEnglish4·1 month agoFrom my relatively lesser experience I can suggest a couple of easy things to cross off your list.
- look at first layer thickness, not sure how thick you’re going but thicker material is more likely to stick and stay put.
- reduce cooling (eg fan speed) in the first couple layers to promote adhesion
- as others have said, clean your print bed, I’m a fan of isopropyl.
- increase bed temp by 5°C
- slow your first layer(s) further.
I am certainly no expert- these would be my first ports of call before I start praying to the google-fu gods.

He who knows, and knows he knows, is smart; beware him.
He who knows, and know he knows not, is wise; follow him

Particularly any new apps or ones that need to access system time and/or date?
fulcrummed@lemmy.worldto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•MIT researchers crack 3D printing with glass — new technique enables inorganic composite glass printed at low temperaturesEnglish3·2 months agoI was thinking they may have a process like 3D metal sintering, using a laser to fuse powdered metal layers. In the very early days of that technology I saw a small polyhedra frame like a ball. The texture was very granulated and it felt like it would crumble if it you rubbed it between your fingers too roughly. But it was titanium and indeed a lot stronger than its appearance suggested.
This was (obviously) a very long time ago back when people were Frankensteining their own printers from components and off the shelf options were few and far between and prohibitively expensive. When the early adopters were losing their minds on the daily trying to calibrate, level and troubleshoot all the gribbles and gremlins. It was quite a deterrent to entering the hobby. I couldn’t imagine then that the technology would accelerate so quickly, to the point where a first time user can unbox, assemble and be printing accurate and tidy prints in under an hour.
Seeing what is happening with metal and glass printing these days is still blowing my mind. I love that we’re living in a time where there is so much interesting and fun stuff to discover and so much of it is being shared instead of hoarded.

Well there’s your problem right there. Your launderer has fallen asleep on the job.
And a Zig-Zag, a Rhododendron, and a general store called Wanker’s Corner.
Let’s Dan, you ain’t got no ears.

Sounds like your ideal future (and mine) is on the way!
Also Macron from the cheek bones
And apparently Larry Kudlow (trump economic advisor kinda dude).
Teresa “I prefer spinach” May was between them but not visible here
This is brilliant. I fear it may be too subtle/dry for many people to get, but top shelf regardless!
PEBKAC is as PEBKAC does.
Have we got Devon Rex cross (maybe sphinx) here? Very interesting looks! 10/10 would pat, may also bleed. I’m ok with that.
That’s what saves their QA numbers from being even worse.
