  • Looking at it as birthing your own companion, totally. But if you were birthing a companion you’d have to raise it, train it, educate it, feed it, clothe it, form a relationship with it, then convice (or manipulate it) to love you.

I see AI companions as even more pathetic (and a lot less gross), honestly. Their masters want all the benefits of an actual human relationship without doing any of the work it demands. They want an echo machine that reaffirms they are valid and wanted, even though they are not. Everyone does not deserve to be loved. Everyone does not deserve to be wanted. These are things you earn and you will never be able to do with a corpo-trained techno-parrot.

  • I want to try it out… but the smell test is off: Land on the github and it proudly proclaims the author is not doing this for money, only to help the community! Awesome right? Scroll down a little more to project history… and the first version he created and got bored with and sold. Ok… well let’s click on the website link to actually see what this looks like before cloning and installing… and the first thing I am hit with is join a premium subscription.

I’m not against making money, we all have to - but please don’t act like it’s “not about the money” and then make it about the money.

  • This is the way. When I had the same dream I took my RV to a remote, rural spot that was in my top 3 for purchasing land in (south of Mossyrock, WA), rented a hipcamp (airbnb for rvs) for 2 months… Views were gorgeous, land was gorgeous and plentiful, people were insanely nice… but man, driving 45 min to wally world (the closest large grocer) sucked ass. The closest gas station being a ~15min drive sucked ass. It was a real eye opener.
