Involuntary hospitalization is real. I lived it. It is allowed.

randomdeadguy@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a word (or Wikipedia article) for when someone refutes everything you stated in a comment and acts as if their experience is the authentic way things actually are in the world?English3·8 个月前This person is one-upping you only to prove to themselves that their experience was justified, by making yours unjustified. I get defensive when someone brings up a workplace I struggled with. I think the perspective of the person that put your experience down as “not-real” is attacking your experience out of defense. It’s rude and ugly, but the alternative is that “warehouses” are Not bad to work in, or that you are better at working a warehouse than they were. It might be emotionally painful to consider those alternatives, and it’s much easier to make younger workers feel overly entitled.

Other animal brains, (whale, deer, cow, grasshopper, bird) are not owned by themselves, perhaps animals are simply incapable of comprehending our level of organization. That’s why we can make their decisions for them.

Sorry it’s just absolutely bizarre to me to think of a part of your body having different ownership than the other parts. Too atomistic. Are we renting out the space in our heads? If so, shouldn’t that be mitigated to prevent unnecessary damage?

It can be easier to control one’s appearance than to control unidentified problems. There’s a huge market for fashion & cosmetics, perhaps bigger than the education industry. All people have value regardless of appearance or ability, of course.

Also, because believing this reality is a simulation does not change the rules we live by, there is no difference between the life of a sim-denier and sim-believer. It’s not as if you’d be punished just for [redacted].

Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. I didn’t think about it that way. You made a very good point about local elections.
Look, I agree with you, but up to a point. I can barely navigate my own life and I’m responsible for yours? No thank you. I didn’t vote for Kang, I wasn’t gonna vote for Kodos, and I do not see how any result could possibly be my fault. The ancestors agreed to let fascism rise before I was a single cell in mom’s developing uterus. My state votes red, always, no matter what I do. I can’t afford to leave, but I believe I have never once had my interests represented by my vote. I’ll still vote, because it is my duty as a citizen. My choice or yours, we all get turd sandwiches.
Blame and bully me to death if you want, but isn’t there someone else more controlling, with more influence on the election who surprisingly is not subject to the same blame or bullying?
Sorry, I’ll get right on fixing that for you. I’m obviously responsible.
Edit: but honestly, is shaming me into voting going to make the system better or is it just to make you feel better about the broken system?
Yes the world was perfection before voter apathy
You guys are having energy and motivation?
