Different people don’t like it for different reasons. Some people don’t like it because they think it has CIA financial backing (nope), and some people don’t like it because it requires your phone number, therefore it is not private (the privacy it provides is more than sufficient for anyone not actively being persecuted by a Five Eyes state), and some people don’t like it because it feels corporate (it’s a 501c3 nonprofit, and how corporate it feels is subjective).

I get distracted/overwhelmed fairly easily, so GNOME is a godsend. minimalistic top bar + on demand workspaces to throw my extra windows into = I can actually get stuff done.

Linux is fully capable of 4k playback. any Linux user (with a 4k screen) can go to YouTube and watch a 4k video in full quality. Linux support is there, the bandwidth is probably there, the hardware power is there (Asahi Linux is for Apple hardware), so the problem is either Netflix or DRM in general
take a look at this post for a workaround
i have to admit i wrote it in like ten minutes because i was Inspired and didn’t think too much about the symbolism, but i think it gets the message across and i’m really glad you like it! the message was something i’ve been trying to put into words for a while but found it really difficult to do before i made a poem out of it. it’s funny how some ideas are naturally suited to expression through poetry

for real though, if you ask an LLM how to make a bomb, it’s not the LLM that’s the problem
as others in this thread have mentioned, Linux Mint or Pop OS are the best for someone coming from Windows. both work really well out of the box. Linux Mint has a very Windows-like desktop, so it’s often recommended to people coming from Windows; but if you want a more unique experience Pop OS is the way to go

i have an account on Habitica. it’s a todo list with RPG mechanics (or an RPG game where you gain XP and level up by doing things in real life) and it’s really helped me keep on track. i’ll let my competitive instincts kick in and i’ll grind for gold or try and level up quickly or whatever, and i’ll get everything i need to do that day done within like the first two hours and i’ll be disappointed i have nothing else to do. never underestimate the power of gamification
upvoting moves the post higher in the Hot, Active, and Top views.
technical details
the value of upvotes decay logarithmically over time in the Hot and Active views. new posts and comments have quite a bit of an early advantage, and since upvotes decay, popular old posts and new posts are on roughly equal footing in the Hot and Active views.
here is the algorithm, where R is rank, s is score (number of upvotes - downvotes), and t is time since posting in hours

Maybe try going into the settings and forcing a sync? That happens occasionally with the app on my phone, and I just hit the force sync button to get everything back
