Yeah, I dunno. I reckon you’re a husky owner who, whether you realise it or not, naturally fits with these kinds of breeds.

Spitz working dogs can (and honestly should) be a nightmare for the average household. But it’s fairly easy to meet their needs, and when they’re met, hey’re hands down the most loyal, intelligent, and rewarding dogs you can have. Don’t sell yourself short, I reckon you’re not lucky, you’re just a good husky owner.

The problem for huskies is they’re seen as the easy-access “cool wolf” looking dog. People don’t realise they’re part of a seriously wild working breed and forget their brains need constant challenges and proper jobs to do —, otherwise, they’ll go and invent their own.

I get a lot of praise for my lappies. People think their behaviour comes out of the box like that. Nooooope. They’re constantly given jobs and challenges. The enrichment from this is why they’re so well behaved and focused.

    Edit: Also, can’t help myself…

    🤣

    No.

You can try get my Lapphunds inside if you want, they’ll just let themselves back outside to sleep in the snow all night. Huskies are no different.

My breed, and I would guess NA snow breeds are good to about -35C as well, or not far off. My dogs really start getting a pep in their step below -5. If there’s no snow, they’ll seek out concrete. Almost never do they use their beds.

Especially when the worst that could happen is nothing which is exactly what’s going to happen if OP says no. Literally can’t go backwards no matter what, but it’s possible they could go forward.

Well…unless something psycho happens, I guess. Then OP will suffer greatly, go very backward, traumatised for life etc. etc. etc…

    Nah, they’ll be fiiiine.

I’ve done similar before and was still blown away by the bad data.

Somewhat unrelated, but still a hell of a story in the power of human input into data…

Working in the healthcare industry during COVID, federal law had 18,000 of our employees required to submit proof of vaccination to continue working in our hospitals and clinics. All they had to do was get their vaccination certificate PDF off the government website, type in their staff number, and upload the form, we then submit this information as the employer to confirm that these people do indeed work for us and are safe to continue doing so.

56% managed to do it. The rest were all sorts of shit. Most common were people that took photos of their computer screen, converted the photo to PDF, and uploaded that. Next most common was people print the PDF, scan it, then upload the scan PDF.

We had thought of everything to make a simple download then upload as easy as possible, including a 3 step video, and yet they went above and beyond in unimaginable ways. The people that genuinely didn’t know what to do hit the support link so they could be guided through it and did things perfectly in a couple mins—the self-confessed computer illiterate people were not a problem at all.

Thanks to training a form detection bot, I got it down to under 2000 remaining in a day, and the looming threat of “You have to do this or we can’t legally give you work and pay you until you do” quickly sorted out the rest.

People will ALWAYS fuck things up in ways you’ve never thought of before. Reading the short, clear, and user friendly instructions for the simple job doesn’t work and they’ll get angry that something went wrong, every fucking time.

  • Because it’s like the US. Well-known, but when stacked up against other browsers, not really good at anything, pretty shit at a lot of things, and certainly more old in the way it goes about doing it all. Then there’s Mozilla’s behaviour which is like a drunken parent at times.

But in many people’s minds there is only Chrome and Firefox, and they see all the cool kids hate Chrome, therefore Firefox is the best.

Online cat owners remund me of Pearl Jam - Betterman.

They’re so deep in a toxic relationship, they overcome it by saying the bad behaviour is cute and that’s as good as they deserve.

Edit: Every downvote is an upvote for Stockholm Syndrome. The felines have you under control and now you do what they meowed you.

  • In Mass Effect, it’s VI (Virtual Intelligence), while actual AI is banned in the galaxy.

The information kiosk VIs on The Citadel are literally LLMs and explain themselves as such. Unlike AI/AGI they aren’t able to plan, make decisions, or self-improve, they’re just a simple protocol on a large foundational model. They just algorithmic.

Simulated Intelligence is okay, but virtual implies it mimics intelligence, while simulated implies it is a substitute and actually does intelligence.
