Lemm.ee was a fantastic instance, it will be greatly missed. Huge thanks to the admins and owner that made it happen for so long.

A shame the communities will be lost in the transition, the movies/television communities are genuinely cursed. This is the 4th or 5th time people moved that community.

I guess now would be a good time to give Piefed another shot. I love Lemmy and all, but new features have stalled for too long and I’m ready for some change.

I checked this out but its too retro for me. When I think of great Retro games, my mind goes to the SNES and '90s arcade games. These Atari games are rough to play.

Labor is significantly cheaper in Asia compared to the US. Simple as. If you compare the budget of an anime compared to an average American show, it’s night and day.

DONT USE UNETBOOTIN. This tool more often than not breaks something and causes issues for people. Somebody I know used it and broke booting into Windows, he had to use a USB anyway to fix the bootloader.

Looks very late 80’s/early 90’s anime style which I adore. Thank goodness they’re laying off the “generic anime girl” style.

I’ve never heard of it until a few days ago, and the only reason I have is because of people angry that it’s gotten zero advertising. What a mess. WIT studio is one of the top anime studios, how can nobody have heard about their next project?

My biggest issue with Piefed is how much space the UI uses. Last I checked it didn’t have a “compact mode” like current Lemmy or Alexandrite. Browsing communities is also a bit awkward since it shows you so many topics without a way to sort or remove them.

Do your in-laws live in a skull-shaped mountain by any chance? Serious bond villain vibes here.

Jokes aside, the cave part looks really well made. Great designs.

Terrible how, though? That’s exactly what it gets right. You have easy-to-setup roles and channel accesses, onboarding experiences for people joining a larger server, a huge ecosystem of bots for various purposes, etc.

okay, it is bad for not being indexable, but it’s good at what it does and it’s popular for a reason.

Yeah I remember voicing this concern when all online communities seemed to be going to discord and people seemed to mainly laugh at me in response at the time.

Because there hasn’t been a single proper alternative until very recently, and even then they’re not as user friendly.
