Any guides or further reading you can point me to for this?

Would part of the process have stressed it enough to kill it? Seems unlikely that after 13 years it would just randomly go exactly as I’m running this command!
Sadly not. I think I had to turn it on for it to be detected by fastboot or adb, and it seems like it’s not even turning on anymore.
Apparently nobody does :(
A quick search for sideofburritos isn’t giving me anything, did you have a particular video in mind?
Impressive, though do you actually need to have it all with you at all times? I’ve been there, and ultimately having everything on me all the time wasn’t worth the other tradeoffs.
Lots of people only have a phone and still want to play games
Use the exact same setup you have, then when she calls and asks you how to do something then you either already know or can check on your own machine!

I guess I’ve already accepted that I can’t do that on most phones and constant network access to cloud stuff is a reasonable alternative. There is no perfect device so we’ve all got to choose which compromises to make, eh?
Out of interest what music files and documents do you need with you at all times that will fill up a 256GB phone?
They had one when I last checked (maybe a year ago) and now there’s twenty or so, so definitely seems like things are picking up.
Oh the card readers? I’ve got about 5 of them, every bank used to give you one when you opened an account. Supposedly they’re pretty secure, too.
In my experience they half-arse it though. For example on GrapheneOS (which is considered significantly more secure than default Android) several banking apps block access because they use some questionable Google Play API which doesn’t recognise GrapheneOS.
Most of them are OK, I’ve not encountered any that are unusable though
What do they do if you don’t have a smartphone? Or was this an account that you could only open in-app?

How would I do that?
I’m going to assume that this was a totally useless gimmick like most of the junk like this I saw advertised back in the day, but I’d love to hear if anyone ever used one
