If the ACAB post is just words, then no. If it’s imagery of people being beaten by cops, then yes. There’s no need to argue extremes to make the point seem ridiculous – just use judgment and be kind.

It’s about being considerate; that’s where the conversation starts and ends, so don’t get sidetracked or focus on semantics. It does not matter why someone is browsing any website at their place of work, so let’s not even bring that into the conversation. NFSW is meant to help people view content at work/in public by making it avoidable. It’s a communication from the author/community to the audience that the content may or may not be inappropriate – that’s it. If it’s debatable and isn’t tagged, that’s inconsiderate and a request to tag it should be treated with consideration and kindness (barring trolls, which OP clearly isn’t).

But that’s just my opinion, and I acknowledge yours is different.

Just because there’s no nudity doesn’t mean it’s safe-for-work. This would absolutely make my female colleagues uncomfortable and that falls under the spirit of NSFW. Getting pedantic about what is or isn’t pornographic or nudity to justify having gross pictures up on your screen is entirely beside the point – if there’s any reason it could contribute to a less equitable workplace, it should be labeled NSFW. If there’s any debate about it at all, it’s the considerate thing to do.

Based on testing performed by Microsoft in December 2024 using Geekbench 6 Multi-core score comparing a selection of Windows 10 PCs with Intel Core 6th, 8th, and 10th generation processors and Windows 11 PCs with Intel Core 12th and 13th generation processors. Performance will vary significantly by device and with settings, usage and other factors.

I mean… okay? Pretty sure that has very little to do with the OS at that point. That’s kind of like saying the PS5 is faster than the PS4 – yeah, I’m upgrading hardware, of course it’s faster. Kinda surprised they only got 2.3x with that basis of comparison.

Then you’d juat have to deal with errors from processes expecting it to be there. Probably better to instead not use software that implements it, which I assume you’re doing anyway.

Betteridge’s law of headlines is an adage that states: “Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.”

I hear this take frequently and I think I understand where it comes from; you can lead a horse to water and all that. However, that thinking serves mostly as a way to disconnect from the suffering we’re seeing similar to a thought-terminating cliché. If you can convince yourself that people who don’t help themselves don’t deserve help, it’s much easier to cope with the existence of their suffering.

That’s not really a solution though, right? It’s more like a minimal survival mechanism restricted to those privileged with financial literacy and good discipline/planning in a system where people are (paradoxically) forced to trade their health for livelihood. Many, many people will fall short of such a bar through no fault of their own.

Right – all privacy-positive methods to employ, but not helpful for fingerprinting. In fact, some things can make you more susceptible to fingerprinting because they make you more unique (like using a custom OS). It’s all about your browser and what it chooses to send with HTTP requests, how it responds to queries for you device/browser specs (via Javacript). Your OS, system architecture, hardware details, browser type and plugins, etc combine to make a very unique profile tied to your device. It’s especially nefarious because all those bits are cross-referenced over all accounts and devices to make a global profile on you. Even if you’ve never used Facebook, you probably have a shadow profile. If you’ve ever logged into the same service or website account on your de-Googled GrapheneOS device as another machine that does have Google services tracking, then your new device is likely already tied to your identity.

Try this with different browsers – it tests the uniqueness of your device.
